My kids and I recently watched the new Alice and Wonderland on our tv satelite in Georgia. We missed it in the theaters and we were all anxious to finally see it at home. I don’t think any of us were prepared for the wild ride we got. Although everyone in the family liked different parts, every member of the clan thinks it is one of the best shows we have seen in quite a while.
As a graphic artist, I liked the combination of real life actors with animated characters and green screen backgrounds. Of course my wife was smitten with Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter and wished he and Alice would have tied the knot! Our children are all teenagers now, so they appreciated the more mature humor and dialog that some other animated shows lack. But the thing we all agree on is the story of good overcoming evil was excellent. Also the theme of Alice growing up and taking responsibility for her life was a great story line that makes you feel very good about her future as the movie ends.
Although some of the characters are kind of creepy, the fact that I have teenagers makes that just fine. The creepier the better. And I do like the fact that the Mad Hatter turns into Braveheart in the final battle. What?! If you have not seen it, I better not spoil the ending. But trust me, I think you will approve as we do!
